Tor Biering-Sørensen says: “Despite improvements in therapy, heart disease is still the number one cause of death and disability worldwide. My project will consist of three studies exploring the role of heart imaging techniques such as ultrasound, CT, and MRI in improving treatment of three conditions that are both frequent and carry substantial risks of complications: hypertension, chronic kidney disease, and atrial fibrillation. In the first two studies, heart imaging will be used to assess the effects of the medications colchicine and dapagliflozin, respectively. In the third study, a CT scan will be part of the study intervention. The trials will have the potential to improve care and quality of life for millions of patients worldwide.”
